The cityscapes just serve as a backdrop; they arent part of the game play.

Although I must admit to being fascinated by the stylized New York City gangster.

But I was even more intrigued by the variations on mahjong that you play, including finding the tile without a pair, mahjong solitaire, and matching across a wall.

They were easy to learn (in seconds), and so much fun to play compared to straight mahjong level after level.

If youve played other mahjong games, you know that good-looking tiles arent easy to find.

If you havent tried mahjong, this is a great game for your first experience.

I didnt like the hexagon because at times I couldnt tell if a tile was free.

They used symbols at the bottom of the screen which are fine if you remember what they mean (tried hovering over them to no avail).

I probably gave up too soon, but it just wasnt any fun for me.

On the contrary, in Puzzle Quest, you have to think hard before each move as you do in chess.

The great thing is that its not game-over even if youre defeated, so you can refresh your strategy and challenge the same foe again.

There are 5 pyramid steps to complete to get to the top spot.

But because your on the clock a little panic could set in on difficult questions.

All in all, I am glad I purchased the game and hope the sequel is also enjoyable.
